About Us

What the Duck?

OK so you have read so far and are obviously a little bit interested.

Don’t stop here – our rallies are intended to stop you going away to Benidorm for two weeks.

We cannot promise you sunshine nor can we promise you an immunity from dysentery – what we can promise you is an adventure different from anything you have done before (unless you have been on one of our events before in which case log in and bypass the sales pitch).

Don’t think it will be easy – if you are looking to get sponsored it is a real challenge to navigate £350 worth of rust across Europe and possibly back again.

So you do have something to sell – why not make the journey on behalf of your team’s favourite charity.

Our own challenges will push you to the limit (ish), but you will meet lots of people also looking for adventure through a terrain untouched by any madmen other than dictators – and ducks.

If you have an open mind and you are prepared to tackle almost anything the road throws at you – not to mention your passengers – then you MUST be Quackers!

The rules are not too taxing – they can’t be because we wrote them – and each rally page has its own quirks (apparently), but here is the potted highlights:

The Vehicular Juice: “No more than £350?” we hear you say. Can’t be done. It can be – we did it and there are some amazing cars out there for even less. Once you have your pre-nurtured work of art you can spend what you want on it – but we would recommend saving something for a decent beer each night.

Your car should be 15 years or older – please do not think that this means it has to be held together with Duct tape (it will have to have a valid MOT and of course it needs to get you around 1,500 miles through some of the toughest Lidl carparks in the world!). This means an N-Reg or older – for those of you with maths O’level that also means pre August 1995.

The Creative Juice: Turn your investment into the Batmobile, a pterodactyl or even a Rolls Royce. The sky’s the limit (as long as it is within the realms of decency…..which before you panic is not Mary Whitehouse but more Two Ronnies than Bottom) and we have some guidelines for you so that you do not end up sitting on a doughnut cushion with a strange fear of Palmolive…..

The Juicy Rags: If you don’t want to harm that precious paintjob why not invest in some seriously stupid threads. Disguise yourself as a gorilla, Marilyn Monroe or a Billie – whatever floats your boat – just have fun!

ENTRY & PRIZES

Entry is by way of cash, or credit card to the tune of £250 per team of two with a supplement of £25 per additional team member. In essence we expect teams to be no more than 4 but if you want to do it in a coach with 50 of your mates we (might) not stop you.

So what are you doing it all for?

Well it is of course for the crack – the experience and the new horizons. Oh and of course the money.

If you win you could win big – not EuroMillions Big but reasonably sized Scratchcard win big. It should cover most if not all of your costs.

It is based on the number of entries but rule of thumb should be about the cost of a really good roll-top bath from Bella Bathrooms in Darlington, Co. Durham.

More information will be available closer to the departure date. There will be three prizes:

1st, 2nd and Joie de Duckie. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the event in a grand closing down ceremony at which you can celebrate your achievements and sign up for the next rally!

1st prize will be £1000

2nd prize will be £500

3rd prize will be £250

Daily Challenge Prize will be £100 – so you all could win something!

If of course you had read to the bottom of the Home Page you would know that we can also help you with your living arrangements throughout the rallies – visit our tame Travel Agents Booking.com. These guys will hook you up with a penthouse suite in Prague through to a hostel in Hamburg. They might even find a cesspit in Calais but I expect they will not be promoting that too loudly!
